Soft morning sunlight falls across an unmade bed in a quiet bedroom.

I’m sending this now, though it isn’t for night –
Please leave it unopened till morning feels right.
Then read it with coffee, still half in a dream,
While sunlight is sneaking in behind your screen.

I hope your hair’s messy, your blankets still warm,
Your alarm has behaved and caused minimal harm.
I hope something small makes you laugh before ten—
Then something much dumber makes you laugh once again.

No lesson, no meaning, no grand point of view,
Just twelve little lines that became quite a few.
A brief interruption, delivered to you,
To say: good morning, beautiful.

The day looks good on you.

A little music for the moment.
